John has extensive experience working directly with boards of directors to strengthen governance practices and ensure alignment between the board and executive leadership. He has facilitated board-level strategic planning sessions, supported governance best practices, and helped leadership teams navigate the intersection of strategy, risk, and regulatory responsibility.
Organizational Change & Communication
Few moments in a credit union’s history carry more risk — or more opportunity — than a merger. John has guided communication strategy across six credit union mergers representing five different deal structures, including mergers of equals, acquisitions, and emergency mergers. In one merger-of-equals, member vote participation reached 21% — more than three times the industry norm of 6–8%. His experience spans member communication, employee messaging, board alignment, and stakeholder engagement from early announcement through integration.
